WED: ASHLEY & ROBERT

We got to shoot our very first LDS wedding the other day and it was awesome!  Ashley and Robert planned the day so the we met them at the Temple right after the ceremony and went from there with pictures.  It was a bright and hot day, but we had a super fun time running around town on a shooting adventure.

Flowers: Bliss Occasions

Catering: Heidi's Events & Catering

Cake: Custom Cakes by Elizabeth

We started our day at the Temple for some family portraits after the ceremony.

And Ashley felt really strongly about some awesome pictures - so she scheduled lots of time for those.  We started out at Park West, but the combo of sun, cars and random people in the pictures and the fact that I had already talked to security and knew we were going to get kicked out, sent us in search of another location. We did get a few pictures in there though.

I'm friends with Allison Wolfe over at Pebblecreek, so I gave her a call.  They just opened a gorgeous facility, Tuscany Falls, and I knew she needed some promo pictures. Luckily, we were able to work it all out and get a win-win situation for everyone involved.

If you are *thinking* about getting married in Arizona, please go check them out.  Especially if you are looking at getting married in the summer and are going to need to do pictures indoors - go look here!   Every corner was pretty and there was an awesome variety of backgrounds and a covered patio.

I love this one!

After tons of laid back portraits and a pretty fun shoot, we headed to Ashley's parents house for the ring ceremony and reception. I love this moment before her Dad walks her down the aisle.

The decor was super cute and this cake setup just makes me want to swoon.  I eat waaaay too many of Custom Cakes by Elizabeth's little mini cupcakes over at Thee Wedding Warehouse.  They are very possibly my favorite cake vendor - they are just yummy.  This one was red velvet and I decided we should be the best of friends.  Mike and I had red velvet and when I have a taste, it takes me back to when we cut our cake at our wedding.

Heidi's Catering did an awesome set up too!  Yummy chicken skewers with the sauce of your choice!

The party was so much fun with dancing and laughter - everyone had a really awesome time.

Ashley and Robert, thank you so much for including me in your wedding.  It was so much fun to work with you both!  I just love the images we got!

PARTY: ARIZONA WEDDINGS PUBLISHER'S PARTY

Mike, Jess and I had the pleasure of attending (and shooting) a seriously rocking launch party for Arizona Weddings.  The party was so much fun.  It did rain, but everyone pulled out umbrellas and kept on munching, drinking and chatting away.  We had an awesome time and getting to wander around the Desert Botanical Garden and check out the Chihuly exhibit at night was really amazing.

And, Arizona Weddings has been kind enough to put all of the images up on their Flickr site so any attending vendors can download a free copy.  To view all of the images from the event... CLICK HERE!

Thanks again to all the participated!  And if you are a vendor and need a larger image for marketing purposes, please email me and I'll get you what you need.

WED: TESHA & OMAR

I have been excited about this wedding from the very first time I met Tesha.  I was shooting some marketing stuff for Gamma Phi Beta and the girls behind me were full of their usual comments about how much they liked my work, etc.  I heard one say that, "I can't wait for her to shoot my wedding." I turned around trying to say something along the lines of "that's so sweet, please call me when you get engaged."  The response I got was a startling, "NO! I already am engaged" with a hand presented to my face showing off a super awsome bling-y blinding engagement ring that she had just received the week before.

I just love Tesha.  She's sassy and smart and sweet - she's the kind of friend you keep forever.  When I finally met Omar, I could see immediately he loved everything I did about her and more.  Oh, how he can look at her when no one is watching.  It melts my heart.

We shot some jaw dropping engagement photos in Coronado, so I was beyond excited for this wedding. It was at the Ashley Castle (which I totally love) and it's with a really amazing (and pretty) couple??? I'm in heaven.  I think my excited jittery anxious-but-in-a-good-way tendencies kicked in about a week early.

We were all set and then Wednesday morning I had a tickle in my throat.  By midnight that night I was sitting in the ER hearing a doctor tell me that I had a serious case of flu (not swine, but it was in the height of that whole scare) and that I'd have a fever over 101 for several days, needed bed rest and a strong suggestion for isolation.  I just about died.  I started crying then and there and explained my job and what I do. One of the nurses had even seen my work.  My heart rate and blood pressure then went crazy (I think it was all the emotions) and they decided I should get admitted. to. the. hospital.  I begged and pleaded no.  We all finally decided that they'd give me some fluids and recheck everything in 4 hours.  3 liters of fluids later, I got to go home after swearing to the doctor I would not shoot more than 3 hours at the wedding and that I would wear a mask while I did it.  30 someodd hours later, I showed up to the wedding with the cutest yellow mask you've ever seen. NOT!

Luckily, Tesha had a first look with Omar which helped so much.  I was able to shoot them, the getting ready and the bridal party before the guests arrived.  I snuck out right before the ceremony and no one got all panic-y about the girl in the mask.  Mike came and helped Jess with the ceremony and Laura Siivola came to the rescue to take over as main shooter.  We have worked together a ton and she got awesome stuff!  Despite the circumstances, I am very pleased how it all came out.  God has blessed me with some good photographer friends and for their help I am truly thankful.

Ok enough blabbering, let's get to the pictures!

Tesha's flowers smelled amazing.  Fragrant and pretty? yes please!

I can't decide what I like more, super cute details or catching a moment no one else sees.

The boys getting ready....

While the girls hung out.

I'm not sure, but I think feeling like a goddess in your wedding dress should be a requirement. Smoking hot!  Someone call Tyra, Tesha could show her a thing or two.

Their first look was awesome!  Omar was way more relaxed as soon as he was with her.

This totally rocks my socks.

Their bridal party was sooo much fun!

I know it goes against tradition seeing each other before the ceremony, but I have to say that 99% of the time, it's more emotional at the altar when you do it that way.

I'm not going to post it because she'd get all weird about it, but Jessica not only shot, but she also sang at the ceremony! She's got an amazing voice.

They had a fun and crazy reception too.

The afforementioned bling.  Holla!

Party people!

Laura took them ouside for a quick little night shoot and I think it looks awesome!

Tesha and Omar, thank you so much for allowing all of us to be part of your wedding. Your images are incredible!

ONE HECK OF A SHOT

I can't copy the picture to post it here, but you really really should go check out:

http://www.skynyx.fr/legault/atlantis_hst_transit.html

It's the only image of a space shuttle and the Hubble in front of the sun.  It boggles my mind to think about how he got this shot!  The logistics alone are tough, but calculating and shooting at exactly the right 3 seconds to grab a shot in a .8 second window.  Geez! Truly incredible!

COURTNEY & REESE

I am convinced that these two are really just robots from the J Crew catalog!  I know they aren't robots, but seriously - they are so well put together and sweet and cute I can't help it!  We went to my favorite hotel, the Hyatt Regency at Gainey Ranch to shoot their engagement.  It was really cute because this is where they came for their first date! What's really awesome is that after searching for the perfect wedding reception venue, Courtney decided to open her own!  I'm extremely excited to shoot here in July.  You can check them out at www.12-westmain.com.

The pictures are soo good!  I know they are going to love them.

I am loving the green/purple combo.

She's a girl after my own heart - just love her heels!

No, wait.  I love this moment more.

Some nice portraits

A little resort casual.  I told you they were cute.

And this is stunning.

They are so fun to watch interact.

After the sun set, I thought some of the interiors of the hotel rocked and matched their style so we shot some more.

But you can't keep them apart for long.

And just a few more outside with flash.

And I'm using my trucks headlights as background light.  It worked.
